The establishment of IABEE was motivated by the awareness of the importance of quality assurance of higher education, particularly in engineering and computing, and refers, among others, to Law No. 20/2003 on National Education System, Law No. 12/2012 on Higher Education, Regulation of Minister of Education and Culture No. 50/2014 on Quality Assurance System of Higher Education, and Regulation of Minister of Education and Culture No. 87/2014 on Accreditation of Study Program and Higher Education. Also, the importance of international accreditation recognition has led IABEE to join the international education accords (i.e. Washington Accord and Seoul Accord) as a platform for accrediting institutions of engineering and computing programs world-wide.
